Polemarch's Pen

Welcome to the official web site of the Montgomery Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. The web site committee has done an extraordinary job by creating and updating this site. We look forward to using this site as a communications vehicle and keeping you abreast on a quarterly basis of the many great things this Chapter does.

As one of the flagship chapters in all of Kappa we continue to live according to our purpose of achievement.

We brought in 2007 with our 1st annual New Years Eve Kappa Alpha Psi House Party. All of our guest enjoyed a live band, hors d’oeuvres that were served throughout the evening and topped off with a breakfast buffet before retiring for the night.

We celebrated Founders Day on January 5 at our Fraternity House with song, laughter, stories and passing the loving cup. The house was packed, and many of out undergraduate Brothers took part in the celebration. During the month of January as part of the celebration we also had a card party and a blood drive which was our way of giving back to the community. We worshipped together at St. John’s AME Church, supported by our spouses, sweethearts and members of our Kappa League. When we stood as a group it was very impressive, and we received many compliments. That afternoon we had an excellent Founders Day Program where Tislam Ellis received the Kappa Man of the year award and Dr. Ralph Bryson received the Polemarch’s award. The crowd that attended included members of all three of our mentoring groups of our Guide Right Program: the Kappa Kids, the Kappa Knights and the Kappa League. We had a very busy and productive January.

In February we had one of our best Valentines Red and White Dinner Dances ever. The social committee should be proud. This event was high lighted with a group of Brothers that sand and danced to some of our favorite 1970’s songs. This event as always was dedicated to our Silhouettes and Sweethearts.

Last but not least we recently completed total renovations on our second and third houses. The second house will be used for additional meeting space, office space, and housing our archives. The third house will be utilized by our Guide Right Program.

I would like to thank all the members of the Montgomery Alumni Chapter for you efforts, dedication and hard work in helping to make these activities, and initiatives successful. Our goal is to continue to be leaders in the Montgomery Alabama community and to continue to be one of the leading Chapters in all of Kappa.

We invite any member who is not currently active to visit and join us because there is always room for one more.

Yours in the Bond,

Julius L. Taylor, Polemarch
